Tonight on A Season in Hell, with John Hell, I invite Steffan Chirazi, the editor of the official Metallica Fanzine, “So What”, to pay “homage” to Ronnie and Maggie. The proud Brit that Steff is, he’ll taking on the role of Mrs. Thatcher, while I tackle Ronnie from all sides.

Why did the punk scene hate them both so much? How did their policies incite, and add to the creativity of the punk scene in the UK and US in the 1980s?

All of these questions are sure to be answered 8-10 tonight, on Radio Valencia.

We’ll pay tribute to the late Slayer guitarist, Jeff Hanneman, who died last week of liver failure. Steff has stories to share, and we both have our favorite Slayer tracks to play for you.

Remember those hauntingly handsome gents that used to live up above you in your apartment building? You know, the ones that used to stomp on you, have late night parties, bum your cigarettes, flirt incessantly with your girlfriends, and keep you up at all hours with the headboards banging?

Well, KALRI$$IAN is back with their new album STAR MAGIC, and ready to put their junk in your ear holes once again! Come witness the group that has taken the Bay Area by storm with their potent mix of lounge and funk fueled Hip-hop, sexy stage choreography, explosive visuals, and hilarious lyrical content.

Witness the group that Dirt Nasty and Mickey Avalon call “perfectly offensive” and the SF Bay Guardian refers to as an “overwhelming marriage of sound and visuals…. reminiscent of Too Short and Parliament Funkadelic.” Feel the dripping charisma that has been father to over 2500 cases of rare STDs in San Francisco alone! It is this beautiful uniqueness that has brought KALRI$$IAN to the forefront of the Bay’s music scene and drawn them to perform with many of the Bay’s leading musical trailblazers on the biggest of stages. KALRI$$IAN’s time is now. Giddy up!

You have got to give this band a listen. This rock, psych, electronic band has been compared to Primus, Pink Floyd and Tool, but I have to tell you they come with a very fresh sound all of their own. Noa (drums), Jim (guitar) and Dan (bass) are all veteran musicians, with some serious chops. Anyone who knows them wonders out loud, how it’s possible they haven’t taken over the world already.

They’re having their CD release party this Saturday night at El Rio in SF. They’ll be talking up the show and playing songs off of their new CD, “Catharsis” tonight at 8PM on Radio Valencia.

I got the day off today, which was nice. So I took the time to prepare a tasty treat of a show for you. The first hour features the holiday theme, some of which are a bit subversive. GASP!

Today also marks the 39th anniversary of the release of the first Kiss album, “Kiss”. I pay homage to my first favorite group. I was in the Kiss Army at the age of 5. I truly do want to rock and roll all night, and party every day.

The second hour is all new music, including the great new Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds track “Jubille Street”. I can’t wait to see them live at the Civic in San Francisco in April. There is never a lack of great new sounds out there, and leave it to the best radio station west of East Orange, New Jersey to give it to you. I share links for then stuff.
