Sometimes the week just gets away from me. I really need to be more on top of this blog. For this I apologize. And look what you missed!!! Scarrrrrry soundzzzzzzz. Not really. Kinda. I really didn’t put much effort into the holiday theme, most likely because it’s a week away, and I’m really trying to avoid making a costume of any kind. What the hell is wrong with me? I used to love to do the whole DIY thing. I did make my toddler son’s costume. Bodhi wants to be a blueberry. There are no blueberry costumes out there to be purchased, so I did what any modern day, creative father would do: I hit up the craft store!
He wants me to be a strawberry. This is not going to happen. He wants his mother to be a banana. This too is not going to happen. He wants his sister, Little Lauson Hell, to be an elephant. This really isn’t going to happen. He’ll forget all about it once he gets a candy bar thrown his way.
I am totally off topic.
This show was fun nonetheless. I realized following the show I should have played the Tom Waits tune “What’s He Building In There?”, instead of what I did play. In retrospect I have creepy music galore that I didn’t play. I did pull out some horror film soundtracks, and a few treats. There is some new music from the Melvins and Kate Vargas. I also picked up the 50th anniversary Beatles “Let It Be” box set. I played a few selections from those sessions in the second hour.
I just picked up the entire Pink Floyd 2021 remastered collection. There are no extras, but it sounds amazing! Next Monday you may hear some of this.
If you’re heading out on the town Sunday for Halloween, save some to the treats for the kids, will ya? My wife and I had this idea years ago, to serve creamed corn from ladles into the candy bags. Hilarious. Maybe one day? HA!

Tune in for the music, stay for my stinging commentary on commercial radio! Seriously though, you can’t write this stuff. Live 105 is now Dave FM? Too much. Let’s turn commercial radio into a ghost town. To me this looks like the death knell of the medium. What a perfect time for people to tune into non-commercial, and community radio like Radio Valencia, where the DJs all curate their own shows. There is nothing holding us back. We aren’t relying on corporate interests. Our motive is our purpose.
As always, a lot of new music on this show. including new acoustic Melvins, new King Gizzard, FUZZ, Shannon and the Clams. I’m also starting a second hour feature where I showcase my box set collections. There are always sonic treats in these sets that you’ve never heard before. I’ll be sharing what I’ve got weekly.
Enjoy.
