This week’s edition of Mindtrain featured some music associated with the winter solstice, as recorded by Coil, Sorrow and Tor Lundvall, along with new releases from The Fall, Chrysta Bell and David Lynch. I also played some amazing psychedelic prog jazz-rock by Drum Circus, a Swiss outfit who put out one great record in 1971, included on Brainticket’s The Vintage Anthology (1971-1980) 4-CD box set which reissued that group’s three studio albums alongside other music projects by Joel Vandroogenbroeck, the leader of Brainticket.

The featured release was The Nude Paper Sermon by Eric Salzman, an avant-garde classical work (subtitled “Tropes for Actor, Renaissance Consort, Chorus And Electronics”) originally released on the Nonesuch label in 1969 and presently made available as a free download through the Avant-Garde Project.
