Show #52: A Minute To Pray, A Second To Die, Two Hours with Chris D.
January 4, 2015 10:00pm
Legendary punk rock singer, as well as record producer, filmmaker, actor, writer, film critic, and poet, CHRIS D. (Desjardins) joins DJ Jim G to discuss his legendary LA punk band, THE FLESH EATERS, and their return to the stage for a short west coast tour in January, 2015.
The 1981 line up, featuring Desjardins, Dave Alvin and Bill Bateman (BLASTERS), John Doe and DJ Bonebreak (X, THE KNITTERS), and Steve Berlin (LOS LOBOS), reunites for only a handful of shows this month on the west coast to celebrate the vinyl reissue of their punk classic, A MINUTE TO PRAY A SECOND TO DIE, reissued by the San Francisco based label, Superior Viaduct.
Chris D. also discusses his writing, musical influences, and the many marks he made during the seminal and thriving LA punk scene’s first and second waves between 1977 and 1984. In addition to performing, he also wrote for Slash magazine and produced albums for The Gun Club and The Dream Syndicate. He also formed the alt. country roots blues band, Divine Horsemen, that recorded several albums between the mid to late 1980's.
