Lido Pimienta is a very talented Colombian singer/songwriter coming to us by way of Ontario whose new EP, Color, creates a beautiful world of rhythm and melody filled with an enthusiasm for life.
Part of the DIY Tiny Box Collective in Ontario, Lidos’ music attempts to unify through songs about respect and acceptance of other cultures often with a backdrop of politically charged protest sentiments interpreted through Colombian folklore.
Influenced by the sounds of Joy Division, Massive Attack, Radiohead, and Bjork as well as Café Tacuba, Plastilina Mosh, and a whole stew of Colombian cantaoras like Etelvina Maldonado and Petrona Martinez, her remarkable talent has attracted the eye of musicians like Julieta Venegas & Javiera Mena (who invited Lido to participate in her album Mena).
Lido Pimienta’s critically acclaimed 8-track Color EP is available for download through iTunes and also on vinyl through Ku De Ta.
