Show #68: Tina Lucchesi! She's So Tuff
Folks, we've got a San Francisco living legend in the hot seat for this one. The Bay Area has produced some of the most livliest and raunchiest rock n roll for decades now. The "budget" punk rock scene here that emerged out of the late 80's is among the most influential worldwide and if a single lady were appointed Queen of such a scene, Tina "Boom Boom" Lucchesi would undoubtedly be it. Playing in a zillion bands over the last 20+ years that include The Trashwomen, The Glamour Pussies, Top Ten, The Bobbyteens and most recently Cyclops, Tina rules it pretty hard. And let's not forget subscribing to the true DIY aesthetic of running her own label, making records, t-shirts, countless flyers and all the thankless long hours that go into that. She is also owner of the hip hair salon and vintage clothing store Down At LuLu's in Oakland! Listen how Tina does it all right here.

Show #65: A Touching Display with Wire's Graham Lewis
One of the most important and ground breaking musical & art combos to emerge from the UK punk/new wave scene, WIRE, whom many will agree is one of the forerunners in "post-punk", return to San Francisco May 29th to perform and support their 2015 album, "Wire". Between 1977 and 1979, Wire released three albums (Pink Flag, Chairs Missing, 154) that quickly changed the scope of what was to be expected of this "new wave". Anything was possible.

Founding member Graham Lewis (bassist and vocalist) talks about touring, their long career and processes as W!C!P! dedicates three hours to nearly 40 years of some of the most provoking and unique music that created "post-punk" and challenge the pop format forever.

Show #55: B Sides The Point 5!
We here at W!C!P! are all about records. We like all kinds but, there’s something real special about the beloved 7″ or “45”. Back in the day, artists depended on singles to achieve their way to the top of the charts and later on independent artists relied on the 7″ format to sell at shows (inexpensively) to get their music into our hot little hands.

Every 7″ record has an “A” side that usually contains the “hit” or a song the artist obviously wants you to experience first. But sometimes on the “B” side is where things get interesting. Either labeled as “throwaways” or experimental recordings for particular artists, these tracks would sometimes become a hit themselves or be found deep on an album buried between other non hit songs; OR the assigned “B” side track just remained an orphan of sorts, existing solely beneath “A” territory.

Wax! Crackle! Pop! proudly presents a series, every other month (or so), where we exclusively investigate the other side, flipping it all over and that’s B SIDES THE POINT. Vinyl geek, B side enthusiasts John Seden and John Everett are regular guests!

Show #54: Mystical Shit from the Noo Yawk underground with Dave Rick and Chris Xefos
In early 1992, out of left field, from the outer fringes of "alternative rock", the even further left-field, lo-fi, indie-art-rock New York City band, KING MISSILE, had conquered MTV and the college radio charts with a song called "Detachable Penis." They were a household name among college students for a brief time and released three albums on the major label, Atlantic Records.

Dave Rick, guitarist, and Chris Xefos, "mutli-instrumentalist", played in King Missile between 1989 and 1994. But, before, during and after that, Dave and Chris have played and recorded with several bands (mostly based in/around NYC) that helped shaped the American independent underground including Phantom Tollbooth, When People Were Shorter And Lived Near The Water, Bongwater, Yo La Tengo and many more.

Dave and Chris, our special guests, break out the large family tree tracing their roots back to Long Island, shedding light on their experiences with a "hit single", and sharing some fun anecdotes that involve other players of the scene: John Seden (Repulse Kava), Kramer (Shimmy-Disc), Ann Magnuson (Bongwater), Robert Pollard (GBV), and more!

Show #51: Henry Plotnick And His Electroclajazzical Ways
Heralded as "the most original new voice in minimal composing", Henry Plotnick is a 13 year old musician based in San Francisco. He's already been compared heavily with the likes of Phillip Glass, Steve Reich, Terry Riley, and Mozart!

With two double length albums of fascinating experimental music under his belt, Henry has been getting a lot of glowing attention in the underground press. "Fields" was released as a double LP and CD in 2013 on the Holy Mountain label, and "Qualia" (or Blue Fourteen) released this year on cassette and digital on the UK label, Blue Tapes.

Henry cheerfully shares with us his unique approach to his craft, some of his surprising influences, and of course plenty of music. For the first time in W!C!P! history, Henry also performs LIVE, exclusively for us, as he's our first guest to do so on this program.
